Nutrition Facts on Weight Loss Supplements

Many people spend hundred and even thousands of dollars each year on weight loss supplements in the hopes of speeding up their metabolism. One of the biggest desires is to be attractive and accepted, but it's becoming a harder goal to achieve. The fitness industry is booming but there is still a lot of people who are unable to cut that extra fat in spite of all their exercise and diet efforts. In America, more than 60% of adults are overweight and 30% are considered obese. This is because: one, many of the weight loss products promises unrealistic goals; two, dietary supplement manufacturers depend on the overweight persons failure to survive (If you lose that weight, and keep it off using a healthy diet, there's no reason to keep using their products!); and three, the information about the supplements in the market are written by themselves just so they can make it sell.

Even though the Food and Drug Administration has successfully banned illegal marketers, some products are still available. Consumers can easily be deceived of the labels that claim they are caffeine or ephedra free, not knowing that these supplements contain other ingredients that might pose the same health risks. These include headaches, insomnia, heart and digestive problems, and even psychological side effects.

Other supplement manufacturers say their products contains Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is a phytochemical ingredient that's found in green tea. This so-called component claims to speed up your metabolism, but in reality, it poses to reduce the risk of cancer. Some studies claim that it can slightly increase the potential to burn calories, and now it can be found in many weight loss supplements. It has good points on the other hand, since the body might conform to EGCG after a period of time. The weight loss benefit could sum up to 60 to 70 calories a day. This helps prevent excessive weight gain.

Some of the other significant effects of weight loss supplements is that it might contain ingredients that makers say will prevent the absorption of carbohydrates. A good example is Chitosan, which appears very promising, though in fact it shows no positive result in fat absorption. It can even take a long time to lose a tiny bit of weight, up to seven months for men to lose just a pound of body fat and for women, there isn't any fat loss at all. Thyroid supplements act as thyroid replacements help regulate and optimize the thyroid at a higher level. They say this makes the body feel like a couch potato and won't perform the job it needs to perform.

Because the number one reason why we eat is because we feel hungry, there is another type of ingredient that manufacturers created, which increases the feeling of being full and decreases the appetite, Guar Gum. However, recent studies have shown that it has no meaningful use at all to weight loss. It's ironic that manufacturers mix Psyllium that has the reputation of reducing eating and aiding weight loss, because initial studies so far do not support this claim, although it helps to control blood cholesterol and sugar.

One of the newest innovations in the fat loss industry is skin absorption. There's a Cutting Gel, which is an epidril product that's by far the best selling in fat loss creams technology. Simply rub it where you want the fats cut. Though for now, it's much safer to advise the age old remedies to extra weight gain and that is to simply invest in walking shoes instead of diet supplements. Go to the park and do brisk walking, or running. Go to the gym, and have a well balanced diet instead.
